?? Hi everyone!
Do you know that Singapore hawker culture is on the UNESCO Intangible Culture Heritage list, together with other intangible cultures such as French cuisine, Thai massage and Yoga?
The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) has also recently unveiled commemorative coins featuring Singapore’s hawker culture to celebrate the inscription of Singapore’s hawker culture on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list last December. The commemorative coin design features 4 hawkers from diverse cultural background dedicating their passion into their craft with a backdrop of patrons eating at a hawker centre. There are also local favourite cuisines such as Hokkien mee, nasi lemak, roti prata, Indian rojak and kaya toast with soft boiled eggs and kopi being depicted in the coin’s design.
With that said, we are also proud of Singapore’s hawker culture too! ??? This is why we have produced our inhouse fabric designs highlighting elements of Singapore’s local cuisines and hawker centre culture in it!
